The sky is the battlefield

AION 2 flight

Flight is the combat axis in AION 2, not only travel. Verticality is designed into every region. Steam and Games Press both sell three-dimensional aerial fights as the sequel's identity: gain altitude, chain skills, and treat the air as a lane. Combat is manual. There is no auto-battle line in the press kit. The stills below are official plateau, cavern, and aerial combat shots — not a fake altitude HUD. The Summer Game Fest trailer is the click-to-play facade; it does not autoplay.

Flight is the combat axis, not only travel

Original AION already let Daevas take the air. AION 2 puts that motion in the middle of the fight instead of parking it as a traversal emote. Press language is consistent across Steam and Games Press: you chain skills while flying, you take position above or below a target, and you use the drop of a cliff or the roof of a cavern as cover. Manual combat means evasion and positioning are player inputs, not a queued rotation that happens while you watch.

That is why class choice and flight sit on the same first-task path. A melee Gladiator still has to close in three dimensions. A Ranger's long-range scout kit only works if the scout can hold an altitude. A Templar's banner has to cover allies who might be above the pack. The eight-class teaser does not print per-class flight meters, glide times, or stamina bars. The design rule is simpler: if a region has a cliff, the fight can leave the floor.

Altitude in every region

The plateau still shows bridges, ravines, and a readable elevation change. The blue cavern still is a depth layer under that plateau. The Shugo Festival platform is a playable elevated stage. Those three official images are the evidence for the claim that verticality is designed into every region, not a loading-screen slogan. Named ground on Atreia follows the same idea: Ellun River Marsh is high ground, Altamia Canyon is a drop, the Dredgion wreck is a sealed pit.

Dungeon scale uses the same axis. Solo challenges, 5-player parties, and 10-player group dungeons all sit inside a world that already thinks in height. Korea press also named Easy Mode instances for newcomers; that is a KR/TW live-build fact, not a Steam UI label. Fly the open valley first, then spend Odyle on an instance whose party size you can actually fill. Expedition keeps those sizes version-tagged so you do not mix a 4-player KR dungeon with a 5-player Steam party.

Official aerial footage

The facade on this page is the Summer Game Fest trailer NC posted through the AION 2 Steam news hub. It is click-to-play. No iframe loads until you press the control. The Gamescom Opening Night Live cut lives on the hub because that reel is the identity trailer, not the flight lesson. Neither video autoplays, and both use youtube-nocookie after the click.

If a still fails to load, the frame stays a mineral panel with its caption. Captions name plateau, cavern, and aerial combat because those are the documented environments. The Dragon Lord encounter still is bound to FAQ as that page's exclusive image, so it is not repeated here. Use the lightbox on mobile to open a still without covering the header brand. Gamescom Opening Night Live remains on the hub; this route keeps the Summer Game Fest cut because it is the flight lesson NC posted through Steam news.

What LST could and could not teach about flying

Launch Scale Test ran 17–18 September 2026, six hours a day, max level 37, with a wipe after Day 2. Shop, Quna, and trading stayed off. That window was long enough to feel chaining skills in the air and too short to treat as a gear start. Nothing from the test carries into Advanced Access on 30 September or the 5 October launch. Uninstall playtest app 4972320 before you log into 3393110 with a Founder's Pack.

Controller support is playable but still under evaluation for a full launch map, so the aerial kit you felt on a pad in LST may change. Keyboard and mouse remain the documented PC baseline. Steam lists English, Japanese, and Korean full audio; the other five global UI languages are text. Fly in whatever listed language your client offers. The design sentence does not change with the UI: the sky is the battlefield, and every named valley on Atreia is built with a drop.

Windows client, not a phone sky

Global AION 2 is Windows only. Steam platforms.windows is true; mac and linux are false. Minimum store copy is Windows 10/11 64-bit, Ryzen 5 2600 or Core i5-10500, 8 GB RAM, GTX 1050 Ti 4 GB, DirectX 12, and 100 GB free. Recommended copy is RTX 2070 class, 16 GB RAM, and an SSD. Those numbers are why a laptop that ran original AION on integrated graphics may not hold a 10-player aerial pull on 5 October.

Korea and Taiwan already ship a PURPLE mobile client. The Steam FAQ says the global version is exclusive to PC. Do not expect the same flight binds, camera, or stamina feel on a phone build to match app 3393110. If you learned to fly on PURPLE, re-learn the PC map in LST leftovers or in Advanced Access. The stills on this route are PC store screenshots: plateau, cavern, and aerial combat from the Steam gallery.
